Description:

The Cape Cod Times, an award-winning 50,000-circulation daily, seeks a reporter with at least five years of experience who understands that the best stories don't come from selectmen's meetings.

We like reporters who are innovative, who like to pitch ideas and who can weave their reporting into a compelling and surprising story. In this job, you could be writing online breaking news one minute, town news another, one of our award-winning investigative projects the next.

Applicants should have:

- demonstrated reporting and writing skills

- the ability to build and work with sources

- a working knowledge of public records law

- knowledge of Excel or other database programs

- an all-or-nothing attitude toward accuracy

- an understanding of journalism ethics and procedures

- a collegial attitude and willingness to work with others

- a passion for context

- working knowledge of social media  including, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.  

- multimedia skills, including shooting video, collecting audio and posting content online
