Searching for a candidate who is a versatile page designer and copy editor with experience using InDesign (CS4 or higher), Photoshop, and Illustrator. Ability to make copy correct, comprehensible and consistent is essential. Designer ensures that the typescript adheres to the newspaper’s house style and adds standardized headers, footers and headlines. These stylistic elements must be addressed and determined before the preparation of the final proof copy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for news and be up to date on current events. Must read a newspaper daily.



– Design clean and creative pages using InDesign.

– Search for photos on AP Exchange, Getty Images, Bloomberg Photos.

– Know and be able to apply knowledge of AP style in the editing process.

– Make daily deadlines and be able to work on multiple page designs at once.

– Help to perfect details of grammar and style and check facts for accuracy.

– Prepare the final copy for the printer.

– Edit stories and write headlines.

– Perform other duties as assigned.



– 3-5 years experience with a newspaper.

– Evening shifts and weekend hours are required.

– Experience in InDesign and Photoshop.

– Knowledge of AP style is a must.

– Ability to work well in a team and under tight deadlines is essential. We are committed to great design and are looking for someone to help us grow.
