Description:
Philadelphia Weekly, the largest-circulation alternative newsweekly in Pennsylvania, is hiring a part-time copy editor (circa 20 hours/week) to put the final shine on its award-winning print and digital output. If you've got experience, passion and respect for the tiny details that make all the difference in excellent reporting and powerful storytelling, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities include: - Daily copy editing for style and accuracy: short-form journalism (news blogs, A&E previews, lifestyle vignettes, editorial commentary, etc), long-form journalism (magazine-style narrative features, series and ebooks) and promotional materials
- Coordinating fact-checking process with managing editor
- Formatting, scheduling and posting editorial content online daily
- Proofreading newspaper pages weekly for quality control (typography, headlines, photo captions, folios and indicia)
- Inputting text via Adobe InDesign during weekly proofreading process
The successful candidate will have: - Copy editing experience at a professional news operation with a daily content schedule
- Solid familiarity with AP Style
- Experience and expertise with Adobe InDesign
- Experience and expertise with blogs and web publishing CMS
- Familiarity with Philadelphia life and culture
