Description: The Owatonna People’s Press and owatonna.com is looking for a part-time sports reporter, but we won’t settle for the ordinary. We need a reporter who is equally comfortable writing an enterprise piece on booster clubs’ finances or a feature on a top prep athlete. Some design/layout work is part of the position The People’s Press is a 6,500 circulation daily, with a 24/7 web presence, located an hour south of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The successful applicant will have curiosity about all kinds of sports and recreation (not just prep athletics), an excellent grasp of interviewing and writing techniques, photography and a demonstrated knowledge of how multimedia enhances reporting. Reporters who thrive on writing only gamers need not apply. We are a family-owned cluster of 15 publications, 11 community websites and regional magazines. All are aggressive, watchdog-oriented newspapers with newsrooms full of talent. Besides the Twin Cities, Owatonna is 40 minutes east of Mankato and west of Rochester.
