Qulture is a soon-to-be-launched, revolutionary online arts and culture destination, featuring news, features, interviews and videos focusing on the Arab world. The site, which will be available in English and Arabic, will place an emphasis on enlightening readers and creating a sophisticated dialog about visual arts, cinema, music, food, design, fashion, travel and sport— all seen from a uniquely Middle Eastern perspective. Qulture aims to give its readers insight into the vibrant and diverse world of Arab culture and arts, showcasing the premier tastemakers in the region and beyond.

The website and its editorial team will be based in Doha, Qatar.

Qulture is looking to fill the following roles:

Editors, contributors, columnists, and translators:

Qulture is looking for a number of editors who will write, commission, edit and post stories online. Editors must display an interest in one or more of the following categories: visual arts, music, film, fashion, architecture, interiors, food and sport, with an emphasis on work emerging from the Middle East. The editors will also participate in regular meetings to contribute new ideas and help expand the site’s coverage.

Editor applicants must have at least five years experience in commissioning, editing and writing for a major newspaper, magazine or website. Applicants must also be comfortable with using a CMS and new media tools. The right candidate will also demonstrate a strong interest in the Middle East. Arabic is strongly recommended but not a prerequisite.

Qulture is also looking for regular columnists and freelance writers, who will write about visual arts, music, film, fashion, architecture, interiors, food and sport. Contributors should demonstrate a unique and mature perspective on arts, culture and lifestyle in the Middle East. They should also be proven self-starters with a track record of securing big interviews and exclusives — and hitting deadlines.

Qulture is additionally looking for translators to work with both English and Arabic content. Speed and accuracy are important, as is preserving the stylistic tone of the original material.
