The Boston Globe is looking for a data visualization and graphics journalist to work in its multimedia info graphics department. This graphic storyteller will create multimedia infographics, data-driven visual explanations, and interactive maps and charts for all the platforms of the Boston Globe, BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com. The Globe graphic department creates graphics both print and online, but this position will concentrate on online first.

We are looking for an infographic artist with strong curiosity, journalistic integrity, creativity, and devotion to teamwork. Our graphics team strives to contribute visual explanations to the rich journalism of the Boston Globe. Continuing education, experimentation and sharing knowledge are core values of our team.

Responsibilities:


To design pages, sections of pages, and individual graphic elements in conjunction with editors from individual editorial departments.

Qualifications:

- Experience in Javascript, JQuery, CSS, HTML, XML, HTML5,
- Experience in QGis, Argis or Google Maps Api
- Expertise in standard design tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

Pluses:
- Experience in Motion Graphics (After Effects or Apple Motion) and video/audio editing
- Experience with 3d Graphic packages (Autodesk Maya, Luxology Modo)
