Description:

Have you ever bought a URL unexpectedly when at happy hour with friends and planned out your brilliant new website? Do you love storytelling, whether it’s you or someone else telling the story? Is your sock drawer organized? Do you like flying drones? If so, we want to hear from you. 
 
A national media company is seeking a web producer with an endless stream of ideas and the magic to bring those ideas to fruition. The producer will report to the features editor and be responsible for working on daily production and special projects across multiple content categories, including but not limited to technology, health, food, travel and entertainment. It will require occasional night and weekend hours. You will work with a team of content creators including reporters, videographers, designers and developers. 
 
This position is based in New York City and you will be working with a team to provide content for the more than 800 multi-platform products – including print, web and mobile.
 

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Thunderdome’s web properties, including: basic web production, editing copy, producing live coverage, writing headlines, blurbs and captions.
  • Manage multimedia projects, from conceptualization to execution, working alongside content, design and development teams.
  • Editing copy for accuracy and national distribution.
  • Supporting the suite of Thunderdome sites on nights and/or weekends.

In addition to the tasks described above, other needs will surely arise as Thunderdome development continues, so any job candidate must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing conditions on the ground.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must have at least 4 years of online editorial experience;
  • Strong grasp for best practices for packaging content online
  • Experience using analytics tools
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills
  • Basic HTML, CSS
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Excellent problem solver
  • Flexibility and willingness to work beyond normal work hours as assignments demand, since the news cycle is unpredictable.
  • Optimist prime: positive, can-do attitude.
  • A desire to take risks and try new things.
