Description:
The Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, Ga., is seeking a results-driven Vice President of Advertising who will be instrumental in defining strategic direction while leading the sales team in achieving its goals for retail, classified and digital advertising, as well as multi-media and niche products. Applicants for this position should have a stellar track record of identifying and executing innovative sales ideas while effectively managing performance, mentoring and motivating employees, and understanding and meeting customers’ needs. This position also requires a history of driving sales results, recruiting and nurturing talent, and maintaining a highly productive and motivated sales team. Columbus is a 90-minute drive from Atlanta and a 30-minute drive from Auburn University. We’re home to Fort Benning, one of the Army’s largest posts, as well as four publicly traded companies (Aflac, Synovus, TSYS and Carmike Cinemas), Columbus State University and, currently under construction, the nation’s longest urban whitewater course. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in advertising or related field) or equivalent experience and a minimum of five years of progressive management experience in sales and marketing. Excellent organizational skills, uncommon creativity and a proven track record of managing a staff of advertising professionals. Experience working with major advertising accounts, formulating rates and keeping abreast of both traditional print and digital advertising trends. Consistently meets/exceeds total revenue and digital revenue goals by providing leadership to sales team and holds account executives accountable for achieving their goals. Must be customer-focused, must be willing to “get on the street and not stay behind the desk.” Must have a strong commitment to the customer, staff, company and community.
