Candidates must be proficient in Quark and Photoshop, and be able to layout and copy edit pages on deadline. Solid writing and reporting skills are a bonus, but the main focus of the job would be to produce pages on a nightly bases.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications or graphic design.

Applicants must have a car. Our reporters contribute to our sister newspapers in McAllen and Brownsville, with a combined readership in excess of 70,000 daily.

Anyone interested in the position should be well-versed in sports in general and have knowledge of the use of the Web. 

In addition to the above requirements, the applicant should also be able to know his/her way around social media (Facebook, Twitter) as it is a big part of the job at the Star.

Recent college graduates will be considered.
