We’re looking for an experienced (3-5 years) journalist and editor who loves everything about association or trade publishing: getting to know – and target – a niche audience, scooping the competitive publishers both in print and online so the association looks great; getting involved in every aspect of putting out a magazine and two weekly e-newsletters (reporting, writing, editing, design) and proving with every issue that association publications are more than a mouthpiece for the association.

This is the job for you, if you have three-plus years of editorial experience and thrive on:

• Reporting, writing and editing – you’ve got plenty of bylines by this point, but you still love to write and aren’t ready to give it up anytime soon.
• Communicating with readers to figure out their hot buttons.
• Coming up with article and issue ideas that make readers say, “They must have been reading my mind!”
• Working closely with other writers to help them improve their interviewing, writing and editing skills.
• Collaborating with other editors on everything from topics and editorial schedules to photo shoots and layout.
• Social media – and using it to keep a trade association top of mind among its members.

Candidates must have: an undergraduate journalism degree and three-plus years of editorial experience (print or online magazine, newsletter, newspaper) that includes reporting and writing; and editing other writers for content, flow and AP Style. Candidates must also be resourceful and comfortable with technology. Familiarity with Mac environment and knowledge of open source web language a plus.
