Description:

 

Calkins Media, Inc., publishers of 6 daily newspapers in Pennsylvania, is seeking a senior reporter to cover state government, politics in Harrisburg.

You must have at least 3 years experience at a daily newspaper, with a background in municipal, computer-assisted and governmental reporting. Experience covering state government a plus.

Candidates should be adept at multi-tasking, juggling multiple stories and meeting the varying needs of audiences at both ends of the state. This reporter must work sources, mine databases and aggressively pursue legislative records to unearth stories critical to taxpayers. Must be able to interpret complicated issues of government and work with multiple legislative districts and the representatives.

Candidates should have excellent reporting, writing, and research skills, including ability to produce sophisticated, succinct copy and work under daily deadline pressure. You must be an innovative, energetic team player. Experience with shooting and editing video essential.
