Seeking Experienced Reporter

The Frederick News-Post, an award-winning daily newspaper in western Maryland, is seeking an experienced reporter to cover general assignment stories, as well as education, enterprising, watchdog and data-driven stories on a wide range of topics. This position might also include reporting about police and courts.
This reporter should have two or more years of experience and be highly motivated and curious enough to investigate and break major news stories. We plan to fill this job with a reporter who can produce well-written, hard-hitting daily stories, as well as short and long-term enterprise assignments. We’re also looking for an individual who has a keen sense for news, can generate interesting story ideas, is a team player, has a positive attitude and can work with a collaborative spirit with others with daily deadline pressures. Must also be internet/ social media savvy and possess online skills to include writing brief web dayparts, and posting stories to a website, as well as shooting videos and taking photographs.

A Bachelors degree, preferably in Journalism, English, or related program as well as a minimum of 2 years reporter experience are required. Must have excellent grammar skills and knowledge of AP style.

This is a  Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. schedule, but the ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
