The Policy and Regulatory Report (PaRR), a global newswire of the Financial Times Group focused on competition law, is looking to hire a reporter to cover technology, media and telecom (TMT) policy. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of government policy regarding the sector, be a fast and accurate writer, and have a keen attitude towards investigative reporting and breaking news. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience covering the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), politics and the law, and have a developed network of sources at the relevant agencies regulating the sector.

As part of the job, the successful candidate will be responsible for writing about the implementation of telecom legislation, intellectual property issues and law suits, dealmaking in the sector, as well as FCC policies and enforcement.

The ideal candidate will need to have a team player attitude as the position requires extensive liaising with North American beat reporters as well as journalists around the globe.

Requirements: Minimum of one to three years of TMT reporting experience, preferably covering government proceedings and intellectual property issues.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Familiarization with TMT policy (including spectrum issues), the FCC, and relevant legislation on Capitol Hill.

• Maintaining an understanding as to how the current political climate surrounding TMT impacts corporates, trading strategies, and the industry in general.

• Working under pressure on a highly time sensitive basis as well as producing analytical features.
