Description:

The Rapid City Journal, a 30,000-circulation daily paper located in the heart of the scenic Black Hills, has an opening for two reporters: a general assignment writer, and a Northern Hills reporter. Both positions play key news-gathering roles in a growing newsroom in a super news town: Rapid City is South Dakota’s second-largest city that is home to an Air Force base, a thriving tourism industry, a growing technology sector, and two universities. The general assignment reporter will have responsibility for some beat coverage but will also have the freedom to report on a variety of topics. The Northern Hills reporter will cover local news in the fast-growing region that includes Sturgis, home of the annual motorcycle rally, the historic community of Deadwood, and other cities. Both jobs require experienced self-starters who are aggressive, thorough and idea-generators who can tackle a combination of daily stories, breaking news and project work. .  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity for advancement.
