Description:

We know hyperlocal journalism, and we're looking for a hard-working, intelligent self-starter to help us market our online and print products to businesses that we can help grow. If you're interested in a stable sales career with a growing company, keep reading; if you aren't sure sales is the career for you, you can stop reading now.

For 22 years, Advocate Media has been developing award-winning, neighborhood-oriented content read by more than 200,000 Dallas residents each month. Our dedicated readers look to us for the stories that daily newspapers and regional magazines aren't interested in publishing.

We’re searching for an Advertising Account Executive who can help us continue to grow by representing us to potential advertisers and sponsors in our targeted neighborhoods. You'll have the opportunity to call on small and mid-sized businesses, agencies and even some national accounts. You'll be representing our print advertisements, of course, but you'll also be spearheading our digital sales program, which features web and opt-in e-newsletter ads as well as social media.

We prefer an experienced sales rep looking for a better opportunity with a growing company, but we'll consider a beginner who can demonstrate knowledge of journalism and willingness to work hard. You'll need good time management skills as well as the ability to service existing customers, but this is primarily a job that at least initially involves soliciting new business. Once you begin adding customers, you'll also need customer service skills, and we can help with that, too.

Compensation is $2,000 monthly for the first 6 months and then will transition to commission-based compensation, like the rest of our staff. We also offer medical insurance, stock options and a good working environment with lots of flexibility to do the job as you see fit. Income potential is unlimited, but you can expect to earn $30,000 to $40,000 in your first year, and eventually more than $100,000 annually if you're hard-working and effective.

Send a cover letter and resume to humanresources@advocatemag.com; reference Advertising Account Executive in the subject line.
