NOTES ABOUT LOCATION
Chattanooga or Nashville region
We are a growing content marketing company in search of a new content manager to work with clients in the Middle Tenn. region. You will work on site with clients an average of six times per year, usually a single day, but overnight trips are possible. You will do the bulk of your writing, project management and collaboration with our staff from your home. However, during the first few months you will be required to spend some time in our office in Rainsville, Ala., in order to learn our operation and get to know our staff. The frequency and duration of these visits will be flexible depending on your location, assignments, etc. Due to the nature of our work and the ability to work from home, you will be expected to maintain an adequate high-speed Internet connection (10 Mbps+).
WHO WE WANT
We are looking for someone who wants to spend the next several years dedicating their career to building the best communications firm in the industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and communication skills, equipping them to conduct interviews, write feature/human interest articles, write analysis/industry news pieces, create advertising copy, write news briefs and blog posts, and generate other written copy as assigned. Our newest team member will also be expected to shoot compelling photos from each assignment to fill several magazine pages.
As part of this exciting position, you will:
• work with clients to develop an editorial calendar
• arrange and conduct interviews
• travel to a client's location to collect material
• shoot photos
• write articles, headlines and cutlines
• collaborate with other team members through the design process
To be successful in this position, you must be self-motivated and disciplined. You must have the ability to be productive in an isolated, remote working environment, while at the same time being a strong team player.
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE
The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of newspaper experience (there are many parallels between the skills needed for our content manager and those of a newspaper reporter). The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the publication process; exhibit skills in photography and an understanding of publication design; possess typing and computer skills; and have a desire to work in a family-oriented, smoke-free, professional environment. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Mac OS and Basecamp is a plus, but not a requirement.
Please note, this is NOT a marketing position. This is NOT a retail position. This is NOT a corporate PR position.
WHAT WE MUST SEE
Do you have an attitude of gratitude? Do you bring a positive mental attitude to work with you each day? Do you bring energy to your environment? Are you genuinely interested in people? Do you look forward to engaging with clients, story subjects and co-workers alike? Other skills can be learned, but these are things we must to see.
