Job Summary:   Community Impact Newspaper is looking for a dynamic Editor to help us cover the Katy area. Our editorial staff work hard every day to relay the news that residents need and want to know about. The Editor will have the opportunity to write about business, transportation, health care, events and more. Stories are published in our award-winning monthly, full-color publication and on our website, recently named the best non-daily news website in the country by the National Newspaper Association. This position requires the ability to juggle multiple print and online deadlines, so multitasking capability is a must. We're looking for someone who has an understanding of the way city government functions. It is essential to be motivated, trustworthy and levelheaded under pressure to be successful in this position. 	Manage the entire editorial production process for monthly newspaper edition and ensure all deadlines are met Edit all text in assigned market publication and commit to the highest level of accuracy Research and write engaging stories and contribute design graphics and sidebars for each story Provide work direction to reporters, freelancers and interns working for market publication Build and maintain relationships with community contacts by attending chamber luncheons, city council meetings and other community events to maintain a steady flow of news Shoot photographs for stories as needed Assist with web content and push team to contribute web stories Contribute stories and editorial knowledge to special publications such as Connected and Health Care Directory
Skills:
	Ability to delegate and manage production of editorial content First-rate reporting, writing and editing skills Expert knowledge of AP style Proficient with Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent communication, presentation and time management skills Ability to perform job responsibilities in a timely manner with minimal supervision Ability to multitask and deal effectively with time pressures Flexibility in performing tasks outside of basic responsibilities
Qualifications:
	Bachelor’s degree in journalism, publishing, communications, English or related coursework 2+ years prior experience with other print publication(s) Experience in interviewing, writing page design and photography
