Description:

OVERVIEW

The Editorial Director (ED) is responsible for the development and dissemination of loyalty thought leadership content to drive leads, inquiry and awareness for Aimia globally, and to assist the VP in building and enhancing the reputation of Aimia as the global leader in loyalty management.  Under VP direction, and aligned with regional Knowledge Development activity driven by the regional Knowledge Directors, the ED develops, manages and executes a master plan of publishing and research activity for Aimia globally.  The ED develops and maintains close working relationships with commercial heads, business unit leads and subject matter experts within the company.  The ED will also lead the day-to-day management of global Editorial Calendar development and execution with support from the regional Knowledge Directors. This position is virtual, and may be based anywhere in North America. Relocation to our corporate office is not required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Managing an overall calendar of activities for global knowledge development including:

  • Publishing: Working with key regional personnel to develop articles, white papers, case studies, etc.; develop and execute a master Editorial Calendar
  • Writing/Editing: Write and edit articles, white papers and editorial for publication; ghostwrite for Aimia executives when called upon
  • Management: Manage a stable of internal and external editorial, design, and research resources to deliver content in budget and on time
  • Research: Manage complex research projects in conjunction with regional Knowledge Directors
  • Spokesperson duties: Serve as a spokesperson for Aimia to the media and at conferences in collaboration and accordance with global communications practices and policies
  • Team building: Serving as liaison to regional presidents, commercial heads, business unit leads and subject-matter experts

 

Results and Accountabilities:

  • Develop editorial content and research that result in leads, awareness and inquiry to the global organization
  • Develop editorial content and thought-leadership activities that enhance the reputation of Aimia as the global leader in loyalty management
  • Develop regional enthusiasm and support for Knowledge Development activities
  • Report regularly on metrics for success as directed by the VP

 

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 8-10 years experience as an Editorial Director, Senior Editor or Managing Editor of a business or consumer publication, magazine or digital property.
  • Significant experience developing and managing all or most of the following functions within a publication or content environment: Editorial calendars, research activities, supervising internal and external editorial, content and design resources.
  • World-class writing and editing skills required. Preference will be given to candidates with deep experience editing and creating feature-length articles for publication, preferably in a mainstream or trade business publication. AP-style news writing background is not preferred.
  • Deep experience writing and editing for a variety of digital and print channels required. Deep experience with social media and mobile content strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a public spokesperson preferred but not required.
  • Courage of Conviction in his/her willingness to initiate bold commitments to achieve extraordinary results
  • Uncompromising integrity and acts as a role model for others in demonstrating honesty, reliability & trustworthiness
  • Balanced judgment in his/her willingness to both give and seek candid feedback in order to ensure sustainable improvement
  • Turns vision into action & results by translating the overall vision and inspiring others to act upon it
