Description:

Print/online copy editor and page designer

If you’re serious about applying, you have proven copy editing skills, sound news judgment forged by real-world experience and know AP Style like it’s your own name.

Multi-tasking skills are a non-negotiable must: The successful candidate can vigorously edit copy, keep an ear on the police scanner for breaking news and be able to post stories to the Web – all the while designing an engaging, inviting print page.

We’re a small newsroom with big ambitions. We would depend on this person to keep our website updated with news feeds, scour the wires and competing news outlets for stories that demand attention and to help the desk get as much late-breaking news into the next day’s print edition as possible.

Send samples of your work that demonstrate a flair for smart, crisp headline writing and designs that make pages come alive.

Ability to work constructively with reporters and other editors on deadline a must. Candidates experienced in JazBox InDesign/InCopy systems strongly preferred, and experience using Web content management systems a plus.
