--work well independently;

--be ready to aggressively pitch story ideas in each of the policy areas sited above.

Qualifications required include writing on daily deadline for U.S.-based readership, AP style skills, proven knowledge of government and legal processes in the region, and the ability to write clearly and concisely about complex topics. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who communicate well with editors.

Freelance positions offer a competitive pay rate commensurate with experience. Correspondents are expected to be file three or more stories a week.
