Description:

The Rapid City Journal, a 30,000-circulation daily paper located in the heart of the scenic Black Hills, has an opening for an aggressive, innovative, organized city editor. This position plays a key role in a growing newsroom in a super news town: Rapid City is South Dakota’s second-largest city that is home to an Air Force base, a thriving tourism industry, a growing technology sector, and two universities. The city editor will work directly with the editor and managing editor to lead a group of reporters and must have a strong hand in what gets covered and how. We’re seeking someone with the experience and drive to be a leader, and who knows how to go after the big story, used alternative story formats to tell stories in new ways, and who can coach reporters to do their best work.  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity for advancement.
