Company: Feature Story News
Seeking Talented, Experienced Field Producer/Bureau Manager
Job Status:  Full-time
Ad Expires:
April 23, 2013
Job ID: 1313060

Feature Story News, the world's leading independent broadcast news agency, seeks a talented, experienced field producer to fill a key position in our small bureau in Los Angeles.

From LA, and 14 other bureaus worldwide, FSN provides ready-to-air content to a wide array of international broadcasters.  We're looking for someone who is richly-experienced in the creation of network-quality video journalism, and who can pre-produce, field-produce and post-produce compelling, engaging stories for a worldwide audience.  Our Los Angeles Bureau covers a diverse range of stories, including California's budget crisis and the impact on its global neighbors;  news (as traditionally defined) out of Hollywood;  the rising economic and political power of California's minority communities; and West Coast reaction to major global events.

ESSENTIAL skills include:

-- at least 5 years experience working as a producer at a network level, and the ability to lead and manage our LA Bureau, interacting on a continuing basis with FSN's editorial headquarters in Washington DC, as well as our other "western" bureaus in San Francisco and Denver.

-- strong planning skills, and an ability to think creatively under continuing pressure.

-- an ability to work flexibly, and lead a small bureau with diverse personalities.

-- total fluency in digital production workflows, plus knowledge of Final Cut Pro and familiarity with cameras like the Sony EX1 and EX3.

-- a passion for the serious-minded global news stories of our time, and an admiration for the dwindling number of news organizations striving to keep that agenda alive.

Some previous radio experience is preferred, since the job includes making contributions to FSN's syndicated radio news-feeds.  But this is NOT, mostly, an on-air position.

We're looking for an all-round self-starter, capable of playing an important role in an energetic and growing company that supplies content on a daily basis to an expanding roster of TV networks, radio stations and web-based publishers.
