Description:

Sea Technology magazine, a monthly ocean industry, science and engineering publication in Rosslyn, VA, has an opening for an assistant editor. This position will work on both the print and online versions of the magazine.

This is not a telecommute position.

Duties: 

-editing features

-summarizing news items for departments and e-newsletter

-fact-checking

-HMTL coding to update the website

-representing the magazine at events

 

Requirements:

-bachelor's degree in a related field

-1-3 years of editorial experience

-strong copyediting, research and writing talent 

-knowledge of AP style 

-Microsoft Office Suite skills 

-basic HTML coding

-working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Dreamweaver

 

Ideal Qualifications:

-experience in ocean sciences/engineering

-moderate web experience, including intermediate HTML coding

-CMS experience (e.g., Wordpress, Drupal)
