Destination Magazine is accepting applications from candidates interested in a mid-  level editorial position within the magazine. The successful candidate will provide daily direction and management for a functional and highly productive editorial team. The individual will provide highly practical experience in story conceptualization, critical reading and analysis, research, fact checking, editorial writing and collaborative work as part of the general workings of a leading regional publication. This role will be responsible for overseeing the continual growth in excellence of the magazine’s already highly respected editorial content and design and layout.

The position provides a direct connection between the day to day workings of the busy title and the wider vision and business strategy of the magazine.

> Degree in communications or journalism required. MA preferred.

> Minimum of 2 years working with a medium to large upmarket title.

> Effective communication skills, with a very keen eye for detail and a flair for design.

> Good experience with and understanding of layout and design and picture editing. Technical abilities with Adobe InDesign or Illustrator a plus.

> Possess own laptop.

> Exceptional research skills, including Internet. Fully able to source for quality imagery and photographs.

> Ability to meet regular and often tight deadlines. This must be firmly noted.

> Excellent time management skills, with minimal supervision requirement.

>Team player with very good attitude. Able to take constructive criticism and show immediate improvement.

> Commitment to completing a task or assignment; able to problem solve as necessary.

> Able to follow guidance and ask for clarity and/or assistance when needed.

> Able and willing to provide management for staff on a day to day basis.

>Fun, friendly and easy-going but takes work and responsibilities very seriously

> Able to self manage and proactively add value to the editorial team
