Description:

You're in a good place as editor of The Progress -- both geographically and in terms of your career.

Three Rivers is a small town in South Texas and home to a growing weekly newspaper (that's right, it's growing). It's also just several miles off Interstate 37, and you can be in either the Corpus Christi or San Antonio metro areas in an hour. If outdoor recreation is your passion, you're just minutes from the Choke Canyon recreation area and an easy drive from Coastal Bend beaches.

The Progress is a weekly owned by Beeville Publishing Company, a well-respected family-owned newspaper group. Owners Jeff and Chip Latcham, both of whom are University of Texas journalism graduates, operate a semiweekly paper and printing plant in Beeville, as well as weekly newspapers in Three Rivers and six other communities in South Texas. They are looking for an editor for The Progress.

This position offers the right candidate an opportunity to produce high-quality, well-read newspapers for communities booming from the Eagle Ford Oil Field development. The Progress editor will benefit from state-of-the-art technology and support from the company's parent newspaper. Software in use includes InDesign. He or she also will received competitive pay, opportunities for quarterly bonuses and an extensive benefits package.
