Description:

This Coordinator 3, Information/Publications Services position is on Alumni Communications team for UF Health Communications, the University of Florida Academic Health Center, calls for a strong and versatile writer and editor with excellent organizational and planning skills who will conceptualize, develop and produce compelling content for a variety of donor and alumni communications and campaign materials. The ideal candidate is experienced in reporting, information gathering and news, feature and Web writing, and is proficient in multimedia formats such as photo slideshows and video presentations. Superb writing skills, accuracy, enthusiasm, reliability and the ability to work quickly and well as a member of a productive team are essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

1. Writing and Editing

Conceptualizes, develops and produces news and feature stories for a variety of print and electronic publications, including the College of Medicine’s alumni magazine, Florida Physician, and its alumni newsletter, Dr. Gator; the Health in a Heartbeat radio program; the UF Health news publication The POST and various UF Health Web sites. Works closely with multimedia team to assist in the production of content for social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Covers special events, such as gift announcements, awards presentations, lectures and grand rounds. Must be well-versed in Associated Press style. Works closely with UF Health creative services staff to coordinate photography, videography, graphic design and outsourcing to freelancers to complete projects. Complies with editing, review, news distribution and identity/branding policies of UF Health Communications and the university.

2. Publications

Develops materials designed to support the efforts of the development and alumni affairs office, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports, campaign materials and donor profiles.

3. Tracking and Evaluation

Assists the alumni communications team with implementing a cost-effective development and alumni affairs communications strategy to promote UF Health programs to donors, alumni and other constituents. Helps to ensure consistent messages through coordination with development staff. Tracks, communicates and evaluates progress of projects and metrics throughout process. Provides monthly reports

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; two to five years of appropriate experience preferred.

2. Strong reporting and writing skills, with journalism training and experience with medical and scientific topics preferred.

3. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

4. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

5. Superior spelling, punctuation and grammatical skills. Proficient in Associated Press style.

6. The ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently.

7. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives.

8. Aptitude for or knowledge of photography and basic video and photo slideshow production desired.


Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
