Description:

The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., has an immediate opening for a sports reporter who will be based in Starkville and cover Mississippi State athletics. The right candidate will have experience working a 24/7 beat and knows the importance of breaking news via Twitter and online before explaining in print the next day what that news means. We need someone who can report, write, tweet, blog, shoot and download video – and make a print deadline. The right candidate won’t be camera shy, either – you will appear on camera often on our website. Two to three years experience covering a major college beat is preferred but not a necessity. If you have the digital and reporting chops to handle an SEC beat, you will be considered. To apply, send a cover letter and samples of your work, including digital, video, a project and watchdog journalism, via email to Sports Editor Rusty Hampton at rhampton@clarionledger.com. No phone calls, please.

When applying, mention that you saw this opening listed at JournalismJobs.com.
