Description: The Journal Gazette needs an overnight editor for its 24-7-365 newsroom and www.journalgazette.net Web site. Hours will be 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the first part of the shift, the overnight editor will work as a copy editor on our universal news desk, assisting with the production of current and future print editions. After midnight, this editor gains primary responsibility for www.journalgazette.net, which means: Checking with the night city editor about recent updates or stories in progress; Monitoring the 24-hour news hotline, the police scanner, e-mail, faxes and the news services for updates; Dispatching reporters and/or photographers to the scene of major breaking local news; Preparing and posting approved materials and other news content to Web pages. A bachelor?s degree in journalism or related fields required, as is previous experience in reporting and/or copy editing.
