Tenacious Community News Reporter Sought

Job Status:  Not Specified

Job ID: 1151846

Description:

Southern Maryland Publishing seeks an aggressive and versatile news reporter to generate copy for its two independent newspapers covering St. Mary’s and Calvert counties (www.countytimes.net).

We seek a reporter who will churn out concise stories that get right to the facts; a reporter willing to ask tough questions; a reporter not afraid of hard work and frequent deadlines; and most of all, a reporter who loves the craft. Duties will include, but not limited to, covering education and government, elections, business, conducting man-on-the-street interviews, taking pictures with every story, writing cover story features and other human-interest pieces. We have a small staff for our two family-owned newspapers, which compete against the bloated staffs of corporate giants that have, until now, dominated news in Southern Maryland. This entry-level position is suited for a recent Journalism School graduate, or a professional reporter with 1-2 years experience in the business. Please respond with a cover letter describing how you’re a strong fit for our organization, a resume and 3-5 published clips that highlight your versatility as a news reporter. Reply to The County Times Attn: Tobie Pulliam P. O. Box 250 Hollywood, MD 20636 or fax to 301-373-4128 or email Angie Stalcup at angiestalcup@countytimes.net
