Data Research Associate

We are seeking a technically inclined researcher, someone who stands at the intersection of expert research and data science. A background in investigative reporting, data journalism, competitive intelligence, library science, or another research-intensive field is ideal.
The Good Search, LLC is a boutique executive search and recruiting research practice in the Greater New York City area that recruits senior executive and technology talent for some of the most powerful and successful companies in the digital arena. We see a tremendous opportunity to transform recruiting by making executive search smarter. The Good Search was founded by an award-winning investigative television journalist with a specialty in Computer-Assisted Research (CAR), evangelized by NICAR/IRE. We harness those very techniques to deliver senior executive and technology candidates clients never dreamed existed.
Our clients range from top-tier venture capital startups and private equity portfolio companies to Fortune 100 giants in technology and media (e.g., Google, Microsoft, etc.). Founded in 1999, we have laid down more a nearly two-decades-long track record of success recruiting top talent with an excess of 500 search engagements.

As a Data Research Associate, you will conduct company and executive candidate research, harnessing the power of our database tools to make executive recruiting smarter. In doing so, you will collaborate with team members to identify, profile, and calibrate top performing talent. Frequently, we are asked to map talent, building org charts of executives at target companies. Doing that is a bit like working on a jigsaw puzzle, figuring out who reports into whom. Other times we're asked to find the perfect candidate with rare unicorn skills. We devise research strategies to deliver that candidate to our clients. We also offer custom human capital intelligence reports that blend competitive intelligence with recruiting research and data analytics. As you do your research, you will help analyze the data to develop competitive insights and business intelligence.

Applicants with a background in data-driven journalism (DDJ), data journalism, computer-assisted reporting (CAR), NICAR, digital journalism, database journalism, programming journalism are ideal. So too are nerdy researcher types who are drawn to the NYC Hack/Hackers community. Library science, data science, and competitive intelligence professionals are also encouraged to apply.
