The Greeley Tribune is seeking an Advertising Director to lead its media advertising team. The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Display a working understanding of emerging media advertising trends and technologies including print, magazines, online, rich media, social media, mobile, search, e-mail, targeting and native advertising.
  • Possess ability to analyze market conditions, recognize new business opportunities and develop innovative and effective products, services, and marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Drive product development ideas for new and existing digital and print solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with publisher, peers, department managers, corporate staff, affiliated newspapers and business partners.
  • Lead by example and help our advertising team members maximize their potential through training, coaching, motivating, mentoring and utilizing sales development resources and opportunities. Update, organize and train our sales teams on how to use the sales collateral materials in the consultative selling process.
  • Build strong relationships through attending related community and business meetings and events to meet and engage with key stakeholders and decision makers as well as execute presentations with accounts.
  • Utilize technologies to support advertising and sales efforts as well as reader promotions.
  • Be skilled at negotiating volume advertising contracts with major clients and frequency contracts with our SMBs.
  • Have a minimum of five years advertising sales leadership experience and prior superior achievement in print and online sales.
  • Have proven experience in forecasting, budgeting and media pricing and packaging covering a wide range of products and services.
  • Possess outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Be detailed-oriented, highly organized and comfortable working under deadline pressure.
  • Assume accountability for maintaining department records on a regular basis. This includes documentation of successful and unsuccessful results for special projects and products.
  • Possess exceptional customer service skills.
  • Be knowledgeable of marketing practices and outlets and capable of guiding the Company’s marketing efforts and initiatives.
  • Work with counterparts at sister papers and the home office to share ideas, plan strategies and execute initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively to advance the creative capabilities of the newspaper to better serve our advertising clients.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree or demonstration of comparable and related experience
  • Minimum three years media-related management experience
  • Experience as a P&L manager and demonstrated business success in a media organization/environment including cost management, revenue development and new product creation
  • Understanding of financial reports related to media businesses
  • In the media realm, mastery of digital and web-based marketing and advertising programs in addition to traditional and legacy print-based program
  • Understanding of strategic planning and developing tactics to achieve a strategic plan
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment that demands flexibility as to schedule, hours and days worked
  • The ability to connect with all members of the staff as well as all facets of the community
  • The ability to follow established policies and procedures in support of the company’s core values
  • A dynamic, energetic, and positive personality that equates to constantly striving to be the best
