Modern strategic communication, writing, and academic community organizing in defense of the world’s forests

Job description: The Emerging Threats to Forests research cooperative is seeking a team member to carry out a three-year experiment: what happens when you arm a prolific but nerdy research team with a modern, experienced strategic communicator, writer, and community manager? Our goal is to increase local, regional and global impact of our research and brand of our team, and measure the resulting benefits to the researchers, the University, and planet Earth. Funded by the National Science Foundation, USDA, the UF/IFAS Research Dean, and a cooperative of our scientists.
Where: The Emerging Threats to Forests Research Cooperative at the University of Florida (http://sfrc.ufl.edu/emergingthreats/ and http://www.ambrosiasymbiosis.org/). We are a young and active team of students and researchers at the UF/IFAS School of Forest Resources and Conservation. Our research and outreach focus on forests, conservation and policy.
Requirements: Excellent writing about and understanding of research on natural resources. Familiarity with contemporary online writing and publishing strategies. Physical presence in Gainesville, FL.
Preferred qualifications: Audience research, strategic social media campaigning, online community management. Familiarity with entomology, plant pathology or forestry.
Salary: Part-time of full-time contract for a minimum of $60,000/year with benefits. All negotiable.
