The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead is hiring a full-time Enterprise Reporter who will be focused on specific issues affecting the Fargo-Moorhead community such as workforce, child care, affordable housing, refugee resettlement, education, mental health, crime and cost of living. This position is responsible for producing engaging content for a targeted audience that may be used in both digital and print production. Other responsibilities include: 

  • Serves as both a sounding board and resource to other members of the team to develop the most creative and appealing content for our audience.
  • Produces in-depth, engaging stories about specific issues affecting the local and regional community.
  • Incorporates multimedia aspects such as video, audio, and photography in all stories.
  • Develops own ideas into relevant, well-written stories.
  • Meets regularly with team to discuss story ideas and content development.
  • Brainstorms digital storytelling formats and executes the technological components required.
  • Adheres to deadlines that will ensure content is ready for both digital and print publication.
  • Peer edits stories from other members of the team.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communications or related field.
  • Newsroom and editing experience preferred.
  • Five years experience in a newsroom setting or equivalent combination although exceptional recent graduates will be considered.
  • Accuracy and ability to write clean, crisp copy in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Basic knowledge of video and photo editing.
  • Knowledge of AP style, the Freedom of Information Act and libel laws.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to include computers.
  • Ability to be flexible and work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees, management and/or groups.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and interdepartmental cooperation and motivate others.
  • Work hours may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess a reliable vehicle covered with acceptable insurance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record that is insurable by the company.
