Immediate opening for full-time reporter with responsibility for coverage in the biggest, busiest community in Wood County, Texas. The Monitor maintains news and sales offices in Quitman and Mineola. Our long-time editor in Mineola has taken a job as Main Street manager for the city and we need to replace her. The successful applicant will be a strong writer and comfortable with a camera. All page design is accomplished in our central graphics department, so layout skills are not a requirement. Thirty minutes from the booming small city of Tyler, Mineola is a delightful community of about 5,000 people in the piney woods region of East Texas, a shopping and entertainment destination for visitors from as far away as Dallas. Recreational opportunities include a nature preserve along the Sabine River. For fishermen and boaters, Wood County is the home of several lakes, including Lake Fork Reservoir -- the bass capital of Texas. Recent graduates with strong references are welcome to apply.
