Wouldn’t you love to work for a group of locally owned newspapers that's reinvesting in its people as well as its print and digital products?

The Berkshire Eagle — the daily newspaper in the Berkshires of Massachusetts that’s recently been purchased by a group of local leaders — seeks a managing editor for news to join us in our mission to become the finest community newspaper in the country. We are pursuing quality journalism through great storytelling, while championing the First Amendment and fighting for the public’s right to know. We've already hired some outstanding news reporters, designers and editors, and we're looking for this hire to help us take the next steps.

Our next managing editor for news will help us continue to improve the quality of our news content, expand the breadth and depth of our coverage, and boost the level of excitement in our news pages online and in print, while keeping accuracy, fairness and urgency a top priority.

In coordination with the executive editor and senior managing editor, you will manage the reporters and photographers and editors who report to you and inspire them to do the best work of their careers. You’ll help coordinate the daily news plan to ensure we have the best daily news report online and in print, and you’ll also roll up your sleeves to break news, coach, edit, write headlines and more.

We offer a competitive pay and benefits package. Reach out today by sending a cover letter and resume to Kevin Moran, executive editor, at We’re looking forward to meeting you.
