Description:

AList is looking for an managing editor to facilitate, develop and scale our news, events themes and feature reporting. The role is a cornerstone opportunity to develop the editorial vision for the fastest-growing platform for media executives. You will be creating content geared to informing and inspiring leading execs from Fortune 500 companies.

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of editorial from developing calendars, guiding style and voice to staffing.  An ideal candidate would be comfortable with making critical decisions on the fly adjusting to real-time changes and needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Use insights from analytics and community feedback to inform and optimize content.

  • Maintain style guide and help shape and refine the voice of the site.

  • Manage and supervise editors and copyeditors.

  • Provide constructive, tactful feedback on assignments.

  • Is responsible for ensuring that all reporting meets stringent journalistic standards and serves our core readership of media and marketing executives.

  • Manage calendars and timelines, ensuring content is delivered on-schedule.

  • Manage a budget and roster of freelancers, including assigning budgets to section editors and regularly commissioning stories.

  • Work with Executive Director to manage the public content calendar.

  • Set expectations and maintain that content has been rigorously proofed for factual, grammatical and spelling errors as well as optimized for SEO.

  • Work with Executive Director to facilitate a calendar for ongoing training for the team, identifying opportunities for individual training as well.

  • Contribute to high-profile copy projects as-needed.

  • Write a weekly subscriber letter that delves into our reporting that week, what we have been paying attention to and why.

  • Develop video content with creative and community leads, shaping the direction and editorial focus of all video content.

  • Represent AList at press events and industry functions, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and interest in marketing and media.

  • 5+ years working in a digital-first publication, particularly in business journalism.

  • Editorial management experience with strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and shift as needs change.

  • Knowledge of SEO, PPC, content strategy, and CRO.

  • Ability to adhere to brand compliance guidelines.
