The Register-Guard, with an award-winning digital-first newsroom in Eugene, Ore., seeks an experienced journalist for the position of general assignment reporter.

The successful candidate will produce a high volume of hard news and news-feature articles for our website,, and for the Page One and Metro sections of our print newspaper. We seek a fast and extremely savvy reporter who can move rapidly from one topic to another, producing accurate work on a range of high-interest issues.

The ideal candidate will be versed in using digital media for gathering and disseminating news and have a background in hard news coverage. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for stories and produce news for digital and print news cycles.

The Register-Guard is committed to quality staff-generated journalism as a key strategy for thriving in the news marketplace. This reporting position is central to the newspaper's goal of drawing substantial digital and print readership.

Schedule will vary according to workload. Some night and weekend work may be required.

Graduation from a four-year college or university is required. Possession of a reliable insured automobile and a valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Driving record will be verified.
