NEWS EDITOR AND WRITER, Sloan School of Management, to help MIT Sloan launch a new, editorial-driven website section, Ideas Made to Matter. Will cover finance and economics and global impact and assign and edit work by news writers and freelance writers. Specific tasks include reporting, editing, and writing news articles; developing expert sources; contributing to an editorial calendar; conducting traffic and audience analysis to inform future work; developing and posting content on social media networks; and collaborating on photography and design ideas.   

This position is ideal for a skilled news editor and writer who finds surprising insights in academic research, has an eye for exciting new ideas and technologies, and brings global business leaders knowledge they need to build and manage innovative companies. Will work in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, one of the most innovative neighborhoods in the country.

REQUIRED: a minimum of five years’ experience writing for a business, science, or technology publication; experience writing for web audiences and with social media distribution in mind; experience editing staff writers and/or freelance writers; experience packaging news for digital consumption; strong writing, editing, and copyediting skills; careful attention to detail and knowledge of Associated Press style; familiarity with content management systems and email distribution software; solid editorial judgment, with a commitment to accuracy and engaging, meaningful content; understanding of design and photography best practices and tools; and an understanding of analytics and tools for measuring impact and reach of content (e.g., Google Analytics).
