The award-winning weekly Duxbury Clipper is seeking a hard-working News Editor. This position requires strong reporting and news and feature writing abilities as well editing and proofreading skills and a passion for community journalism.

Must be able to report on the stories that need covering and uncover the stories that need telling – all under the pressure of deadlines. The news editor will cover and report on a range of town government issues, including the school board, local land use committees and police news, as well as local events happening throughout the town. Responsibilities also include assigning stories to freelancers and photographers, editing/proofing announcements, press releases and obituaries and other day-to-day editorial tasks. Ideal candidate will be able to create a strong presence in the community and for the paper on social media. Basic layout and pagination experience with Adobe InDesign is helpful.

This is not an entry-level position, however applicants with strong college newspaper experience and journalism degrees and/or significant internship experience may be considered. Knowledge of Duxbury and/or the South Shore area is helpful. If you are not from the South Shore area, please indicate how quickly you are able to relocate and how you would be available for an interview. Salary commensurate with experience.
