The Maui News, based in Wailuku, Hawaii, is seeking a sports page designer/copy editor with sports reporting skills. The job entails laying out pages, editing copy, taking information over the phone and covering local sports events. Previous experience preferred but willing to do some training. The Maui News is a seven-day-a-week newspaper.

Qualifications include knowledge of sports in general, reporting experience including the ability to write on deadline, digital page design skills (paper uses QuarkXpress), copy editing skills and proficiency in AP style. Photography skills would be an asset.

The job also requires a car and a clean driving abstract and being able to work nights and weekends. 

The 118-year-old Maui News is a union shop, workers are represented by the Pacific Media Workers Guild. We do not offer moving expenses.
