Sinclair Digital is looking for a Jr. UX Developer to be part of high performing Technical Support team focused on supporting digital content publishers utilizing Sinclair Digital software products. He or she will report to the Sr. Manager of Support and will be responsible for working closely with content publishers and business stakeholders to maintain and enhance digital properties. This is a great UI/UX developer opportunity in an Start-Up/SMB environment for those building their careers (1-2 years experience). The successful Support Developer candidate must be a ‘teacher’, willing to collaborate on small projects, while expanding the team’s skills and work capabilities. This is not a ‘headphones on’ / dev-cave role. You will be part of an experienced Support team, and a smaller team of new front-end Support Developers, collaborating on the maintenance of over 150 websites, and 142 mobile apps. The role provides exposure to a cross-section of the agile software development teams, and serves as a great opportunity for career development.

Ideal Experience

  • This is a “publisher-facing” role. The ideal candidate is able to deliver customer delighter moments, and exceptional customer service.
  • The individual will be part of a high-performing Software Support team tasked with troubleshooting and resolving issues with websites, mobile apps, and OTT apps.
  • The ideal candidate possesses 2+ years professional work experience in a technical support or web hosting support role.
  • The successful Support Developer candidate will have intermediate expertise in at least two of the following areas: Networking, Live Streaming Video, Front End Web Development, Technical Support, QA Testing, Server Support, Ad-Operations, or iOS/Android.
  • The ideal candidate should possess 1+ years professional work experience with front-end web development and/or web hosting. Experience teaching or leading classes at Code School, Code Academy, Coding Dojo (etc.) will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate should be a ‘teacher’ with a willingness to explain what is possible to technical and non-technical customers.
  • This is a great early-career front-end developer position for those ready to learn and teach others how to maintain production news websites and mobile applications.

Required Experience

  • Exceptional Customer Service Skills: 2+ years experience supporting Customers and End Users via ticketing, chat, and phone.
  • Strong investigation and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge and troubleshooting experience of CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript
  • Comfortable at the command line.
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development practices including: Scrum, QA, and Release processes.
  • Ability to write logically for a public audience / knowledge base.
  • Ability to serve as the of ‘Voice of the Customer’, providing feedback and bug documentation to internal scrum teams
  • Process improvement, Green Belt, or ITIL knowledge is a plus
  • Working experience or conceptual knowledge of Networking protocols and DNS.
  • Experience with Google Analytics is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of two years of experience in a Technical Customer Support role.
