The Sanford Herald, a six-day-a-week newspaper in the heart of central North Carolina, is seeking a News Editor with a good feel for what people want to read about in a small community.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, supporting the editor, editing local copy and coaching reporters to our standard of performance, news reporting, coordinating and executing social media strategies with the assistance of the editor, writing columns and possibly editorials and other duties as assigned. This is a "hands-on" position and will actively represent the newspaper at public venues. Will work with PMG pagination hub to produce excellent publications while meeting or beating deadlines.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications or other related field with at least two years of journalism experience. Web and social media experience is a plus. Understanding of grammar and AP Style required. Hours may vary due to community events, but typically it is a Monday-Friday work week.
