This award-winning newspaper offers a chance to show off your skills and learn from some of the best in the business through a paid, summer internship in the paper’s news, photo, sports and online departments. The successful candidate for the news internship will be aggressive, willing to ask the hard questions, organized and ready to hit the ground running. We are looking for somebody who will jump on the best story of the day and compete with our staff to make the front page.

The photo intern will have plenty of opportunities to add to his or her portfolio while shooting on Cape Cod and the Islands, including hard-hitting breaking news, fun features and enterprise photojournalism, in collaboration with reporters and editors who push to marry great stories with great images.

The sports intern will cover the Cape Cod Baseball League as a daily beat. The Cape League is the most prestigious summer league in the country. The intern must be able to turn out stories on a daily basis and on tight deadlines. We are looking for someone who can pitch and write in-depth feature stories, as well as cover the games and news of the day.

The digital team is seeking an intern with a wide variety of online skills including the ability to write web updates, produce videos and harness the power of social media. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where many people consume their news first. Having a passion for creating photo galleries, quizzes, polls, interactive projects, podcasts and other fun presentations is a must. A great opportunity for someone who spends much of their life online and on their phones.

Any of these opportunities would be rewarding and a great step toward a future career in the journalism. Newsroom interns work from early June to mid-August, although we can work around the start and end dates needed for your school schedule. Interns generally work Monday through Friday, although the schedule might include weekend shifts and some nights.

Internships pay $11/hour for a 37.5-hour work week. College newspaper reporting experience is expected of applicants.
