Content Wants:

  • Write weekly newsworthy stories on marketing trends, data and insights

  • Craft strong story pitches with thorough journalistic integrity to our team of editors at our weekly editorial meeting

  • Contribute to monthly thematic stories

  • Contribute ideas for videos, graphics, podcasts and social media content

  • Be comfortable with data and using it in stories, breaking down complex ideas for our readers in a way that speaks to savants but encourages less-savvy marketers to follow along

Must Have:

  • At least three years’ experience writing for an online publication

  • Excellent reporting skills conveyed through a strong, compelling written voice

  • Clear thinking and exceptional communication skills. The ability to convey big ideas and iron out small details

  • An understanding of the difference between PR/marketing language and journalism, and the ability to cut through it all to find and tell an unbiased story (you’re writing ABOUT marketing— not providing a marketing mouthpiece for others)

  • The ability to provide balanced insight and context to your research

  • A voice with personality and good taste, in proper balance to your strong information

  • Comfort with multimedia reporting and the ability to tell a great story agnostic of platform

  • A competitively-minded approach to your work. Your stories and voice need to be able to speak loudly and clearly and pull an audience away from the din of web news

  • Deep curiosity about the marketing and media industries

  • The ability to pitch compelling stories beyond the obvious

Good To Have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Journalism, Writing, Multimedia Storytelling or highly relevant, related field

  • A wide range of experiences as a digital storyteller

  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems

  • Social media presence and willingness to share our stories and lead conversations on those platforms

  • A sense of humor
