Brand Overview:

We are the 24/7 entertainment news digital arm of the long-running, Emmy Award-winning syndicated TV series Entertainment Tonight. ETonline has been the No. 1 producer of entertainment video online for more than 2 years straight, according to comScore, and is a top three entertainment news network.

Role Details:

We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic manager to oversee all digital video at ETonline.com, including teams of host/producers, video editors, and production crew/shooters. You are an experienced problem-solver and a confident team player who can work with other leads within CBS, including interactive and broadcast divisions.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Oversee the high-volume output of digital video content for ETonline.com (40-60 videos daily), including exclusive or breaking news, short-form features and franchises, live productions and branded content.
  • Oversee all budget and staffing for video production.
  • Manage teams of on-camera hosts/producers, video editors and production crew, requiring a deft mix of empowering staff who may work independently in the office and in the field while also ensuring an extremely high standard of professionalism, production and news values.
  • Cultivate and mentor talent across many different job functions, from on-camera delivery to video editing.
  • Work closely with broadcast team to manage shared resources and workflows.
  • Schedule and hire staff, including freelancers, as needed.
  • Manage video publishing operations and work closely with our tech and IT teams to optimize efficiency, anticipate special event needs and prevent publishing outages or overloads.
  • Provide support for other video teams at CBS and CBSi as needed.
  • Shifts may include nights and weekends and occasionally may require extended hours for breaking news or events coverage.
  • This role reports directly to the editor in chief and works closely with a senior team of other video, editorial and social leads.

Key Projects:

  • In 2018, CBSi plans to launch an ET-branded streaming entertainment news network. This role will play a key part in helping to establish how our core news video products will support and enhance, while not duplicating, those efforts. 
  • Additionally, our video production has increasingly included developing platform-specific franchises, including series such as Daily Denny, Roses & Rose and Sweetwater Secrets (YouTube) and Certified Country and Let’s Get Crafty (Facebook). You will be deeply involved in pitching, developing and extending the reach of digital talent in these and other new series.
  • As we continue to grow the brand and reach of ET across new and emerging digital platforms, you will play a key part in collaborating with other high-level staff at CBS and CBSi to bring very big productions from concept to reality.
  • You will work closely with senior technology and engineering staff to evolve strategy and workflows of our high-volume content operation and output, including implementing new systems and innovations.

 

Qualifications:

What you bring to the team:

You have –

  • 15+ years of production experience, including 5-10 years in the digital space
  • Excellent news judgment, experience working with and around celebrities and entertainment productions, and a fun but unmistakable sense of urgency
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Management and budget oversight experience
