The News Curator/Blogger will join a team of journalists who will design and start a new news organization dedicated to educating, enlightening and entertaining a millennial audience. The Company is looking for a smart and energetic infomaniac to help build a foundation of sources and to curate hundreds of records per day. The Curator should have impeccable news judgement, a nose for timely events and keen ability to identify real versus fake news. The Curator should be well versed in digital journalism; editing and writing blog-style posts that everyone will be talking about tomorrow; have a knack for developing engaging stories with original and new methods of storytelling; and excel in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.


The Curator will assist in building a foundation of news sources to acquire content; identify, filter, analyze, edit, and rewrite news content from wire services, partner sites and public sites for a diverse millennial audience. The Curator will edit, fact check, and rewrite acquired content to fit the Company’s voice and style; and interact with the audience in blog-style posts. The Curator will participate in daily news meetings and assist in molding the direction of the day’s news; interface with all departments and external vendors; participate in the testing and analytics process of the prototype; and whatever else is needed to keep the department running smoothly.



  • The skills and knowledge that comes with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as journalism, communications or English.

Related Experience: 

  • Entry to 3 years of writing, editing, news research, curation experience
  • Demonstrated experience using licensed news wire services and public content sources
  • Demonstrated experience curating and rewriting acquired content to match the company’s research and brand identity
  • Demonstrated social media editing and blogging interactively with an audience
  • Excels at discerning, writing, editing current and trending news that sensationalizes our audience’s attention
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, editing and fact checking skills in American English
  • Impeccable journalism ethics and standards, including on writing and repurposing content
  • Superb on-time task completion, organizing skills and attention to detail, even under deadline
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as cloud-based editing and workflow programs and CMS
  • Ability to read and interpret website analytics
  • Participation in survey writing and user/usability testing
  • Enthusiastically works in a fast paced, deadline driven environment


Additional Job Requirements: 

  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news, including weekends and overnights. Must be able to work additional hours with little or no notice if needed.
  • Must be able to work and travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles area and willing to travel out-of-area travel if required.

6 Month Contract. Rate is a fixed weekly fee.

Office location is in DTLA. Parking or alternative transportation allowance included.
