We help smart, talented, creative professionals make a meaningful impact in media, technology and the world around them. The Vox Media house of brands includes industry-leading media forces like SB Nation, Eater, The Verge, Vox, Curbed, Recode, Racked and Polygon, and reaches an audience of hundreds of millions, generating over a billion content views each month.

Vox.com is a user’s guide to the news produced by the beat reporters and subject-issue experts who know it best.

We’re looking for a new staff writer who can lead our coverage of what is the biggest story in recent US history: the expanding investigations into Trump’s ties to Russia, and what those scandals mean for his White House.

The ideal candidate is someone with knowledge of Capitol Hill and the FBI who can dig into the substance and politics of the various investigations to give readers a clearer understanding of what each probe is looking into; the significance of what they mean for the administration and its dealings with Congress; and the people (many largely unknown) who are at the center of it all.

This is one of the most important jobs in the Vox.com newsroom and will involve a wide variety of short and long posts.

If you have…

  • Sources on Capitol Hill and in the national security world and an ability to cover both individual developments and the cumulative impact of them on the president and his administration.
  • At least three years of experience covering the FBI, Capitol Hill, or the White House. Familiarity with other parts of the intelligence world would be a plus.
  • An analytical approach to major stories and a passion for digging into everything from fine-grain analysis of individual hearings to step-back pieces that try to look beyond the news of the day or the week
  • An enthusiastic willingness to discuss important topics on your beat in Vox podcasts and videos.

… you may be the writer we’re looking for!

Vox values thinkers, creatives and obsessives from all backgrounds. Our teams are looking to hire the right person  - not the right resume. We encourage those with diverse and non-traditional experience to apply.

Please submit a resume, a cover letter, and three clips (links in your cover letter, or in the same document as your cover letter). This is a full-time position with benefits, based in Washington, DC.
