Description:

Spring grads/young reporters: In these times of "Fake News," do you believe facts matter? Are you committed to providing folks the accurate, unbiased information they need to be fully-engaged citizens? Would you like to hone your reporting and news writing skills to meet the challenge? Then the Public Affairs Reporting program at the University of Illinois Springfield is for you. Our one-year MA program is a unique blend of classroom study and real-life work experience featuring a six-month internship during which you'll earn academic credit working as a full-time reporter in the Illinois Statehouse pressroom for a major metro, regional chain, online public affairs magazine, wire service, radio outlet or TV station. When you leave, you'll have not only a master's degree, but also scores of clips, hours of broadcast reel, or dozens of megabytes of multimedia content as impressive proof to your next prospective boss that you can cover a very demanding beat at the highest professional level. You'll also receive a $585/month stipend and a tuition waiver during the internship. Applications for fall, 2018 are due April 2.
