The Panolian, Batesville, Mississippi

Job StatusFull-time
Salary$20,000 to $25,000

This is the spot for a hard-working journalist who wants to be part of a community, with skills to write everything from heartwarming features to municipal government stories, to launch their career and get positioned for the next big move up. The Panolian is one of the most respected bi-weekly papers in Mississippi, with a proud legacy in a livable community with outstanding quality of life.

Batesville is unique because it is the gateway to the Delta on one side, near the quaint-college town of Oxford on the other side, and a short drive from Memphis on I-55 to another side. We want a reporter who thrives in a community and enjoys being part of the different people who make it tick. We want a reporter who isn't afraid to tell stories, who can take a picture, or two, and who can write multiple, well-written stories per week without complaint. And, we want a reporter who wants to quickly become an editor or even a publisher.

It's a dream come true, really, if you live for revealing the fabric of a great American community.

This role will not make you rich, yet. It is a reporter position. But for the one who works hard, learns fast and isn't afraid to tell a multitude of stories to show they are a rising star, we have no doubt that one, two, or three years will lead to great things if everything goes well.

Please contact the President of The Panolian, David Magee, at if you think you have what it takes and can get to work soon.
