Editorial Assistant

Professional Media Group publishes two magazines: District Administration (which covers school district management) and University Business (which covers college and university management). The Editorial Assistant will provide logistical and trafficking support for PMG’s webinar, event programming, newsletter, award program, and story assignment efforts.

Webinars—PMG produces three to eight webinars per month using the WebEx platform. The Webinar Producer manages all pre-event, event-day, and post-event production tasks. The Editorial Assistant, upon developing proficiency in WebEx, will support the Webinar Producer by managing the WebEx production tasks for selected webinar rehearsals and live events each month. (Roughly 2-4 rehearsals and 2-4 live events each month.) In addition, the Editorial Assistant will coordinate tasks related to the post-event production of the printed digest that accompanies each webinar.

Event programming—PMG produces UBTech, a large annual higher education technology conference with a program that includes 60-70 speakers. We also produce smaller events throughout the year, each of which includes two to six speakers. The Editorial Assistant will support the Program Director by following up with invited speakers, answering speaker questions about logistical arrangements and collecting deliverables (i.e., photos, bios and session titles) from speakers.

Newsletter, award programs and story assignments—PMG publishes a growing number of e-newsletters. The Editorial Assistant, upon developing proficiency in our Drupal content management system, will participate in the e-newsletter production process. PMG also manages two school recognition award programs, and the Editorial Assistant will support these programs by communicating with the honorees regarding questions and deliverables. The Editorial Assistant will also work with content editors in sourcing photographs, data for infographics, etc.

About the position
This is a part-time position comprising approximately 25 hours per week. The Editorial Assistant reports to the Editorial Director, but will take day-to-day direction and assignments from other editors. The job is based in our Trumbull, CT, office, with work-from-home time permitted. Hours are somewhat flexible, but webinar production duties require a dedicated block of quiet, uninterrupted time from 1 to 3:15 pm for live events (generally Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), and a similar amount of time for rehearsals (which can occur any time during the week).
